The E-films MxR Expresscard adapt high quality and reasonably priced SDHC/SDXC/UHS memory cards for use in the Sony EX-Cinealta HD range of cameras. The camera treats the MxR as if it were a genuine overpriced Sony SxS Pro memory card.
The MxR Expresscard completely replaces all the functions of the Sony SxS Pro memory card. To increase your recording capacity, just swap memory cards, this will drop the cost of recording even further.
All MxR Expresscards fully support all modes of over and under crank.
As SD memory is so cheap, you can now give your client the current shoot and you can bill them for it. Impractical with SxS, cost wise and they would not be able to easily download the footage.
The MxR Expresscard uses a Push-in/Push-out mechanism where the whole SD card is enclosed to prevent accidental ejection, and to ensure that the camera door can be closed.
It is recommended that the memory card should be formatted in Slot B of your camera, before it is used. If it has been formatted by another adapter or camera, then it is recommended to reformat as above.
You should treat the MxR Expresscard the same way you would a Sony SxS Pro memory card. All functions including 60fps over cranking are available.
We suggest that you follow the same recommendations that Sony has given for their SxS cards:
There are four ways to get your footage from the SD card onto your system:
It is highly recommended to use the Sony Clip Browser program, to copy the footage off the cards and onto your Hard Disk. Using either Explorer or Finder does not guarantee that all of the files required to edit, will be copied in their entirety. Clip Browser also gives you the option of CRC checking, of the data, so that you can be assured that it is copied perfectly.
Each editing program has it's own method of ingesting the footage. Some are able to read the Native files that the camera produces, in which case you are ready to edit. While others require a conversion to an intermediary format to allow for speedy editing. Clip Browser has options to allow you to convert footage to most formats.
